There were 26 Kamloops Gymnastics and Trampoline Centre athletes in action at the artistic gymnastic and trampoline provincial championships, which wrapped up in Port Coquitlam on April 9.
Highlighting the artistic gymnastics results was Drew Kanigan, who won gold in six events to claim the all-around junior male title.
The KGTC’s trampolinists captured top honours in team awards in all three disciplines — trampoline, double-mini trampoline and tumbling.
Team members include Gavin Dodd, Kristina Dodd, Kristyne Makortoff-Jones and Hermoine Loehr on trampoline; Makortoff-Jones, Gavin Dodd, Hannah Walker and Kyla Liebe on double-mini; and tumblers Walker, Loehr and Kristina Dodd.

April 7th – 9th, 2017 saw 26 KGTC athletes attend the B.C. Championships, in both Artistic and Trampoline Gymnastics, in Port Coquitlam.
KGTC Men’s Artistic Gymnastics athlete, Drew Kanigan topped the podium in all 6 events, claiming the title of the 2017 MAG Junior B.C. Champion. Yoshi Matthews, MAG Level 4 under 13, had a strong showing placing 10th All-Around.
JO 7 athletes, Martina Fish and Brooke Topolovec, both placed 9th All-Around in their respective age categories. Two KGTC athletes received Silver on Individual Events: Brooke Topolovec, JO 7 on Floor and Miranda Kozub, JO 8 on Vault.
Christine Strain, JO 8 achieved her personal best scores on all events, placing 8th and 10th on vault and floor respectively.

In Trampoline Gymnastics athletes captured top honours.
KGTC Trampoline Gymnastics athletes had an amazing weekend, capturing top honours in the Team Awards for all 3 disciplines.
Trampoline team members: Gavin Dodd, Kristina Dodd, Kristyne Makortoff-Jones and Hermoine Loehr. Double Mini team members: Gavin Dodd, Hannah Walker, Kristyne Makortoff-Jones and Kyla Liebe. Tumbling team members: Kristina Dodd, Hannah Walker and Hermione Loehr.
Individual athlete results:
Gavin Dodd placed 1st in all 3 disciplines; Trampoline Level 6 – 17 under men; Double Mini Level 6 – Men; Tumbling Level 5 – Men. He also captured Silver in Level 5 – Men Synchro Trampoline, partnered with Blake Mould from Nanaimo. Gavin also received Top Honours in the “National Level All Around” category.
Kristina Dodd placed 1st in Trampoline Level 5 – Women and Tumbling Level 5 – Women, and 3rd in Double Mini Level 6 – Women. Her results helped her to a 5th place spot in the “National Level All Around” category.
Hannah Walker brought home 2 Silver medals in Trampoline Level 4 – 15 over Women and Double Mini Level 6 – Women. Earning her top honours in the “Provincial Level All Around” category.
Hermione Loehr received Gold in Double Mini Level 2 – 14 over Women and 2 Bronze medals in Trampoline Level 2 – 14 over Women and Tumbling Level 1 – 13 over Women, earning her Bronze in the “Provincial Level All Around” category. Hermione also captured Silver in Level 2 – Women Synchro Trampoline, partnered with Kyla Liebe.
Kristyne Makortoff-Jones placed 3rd on Double Mini Level 3 – 15 over Women and 4th in Trampoline Level 4 – 15 over Women.
Kyla Liebe placed 3rd in Double Mini Level 2 – 13 under Women, as well as Silver with Hermione Loehr in Level 2 – Women Synchro Trampoline.
