Kamloops product Josh Wolfram has inked a deal with Sluneta Usti Nad Labem (USTI) of the Czech Republic National Basketball League (NBL).
Wolfram, who played his university basketball with the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, is coming off his first professional season in Sweden. He played with Umea Basket of the Swedish Basketligan, averaging 9.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27 appearances. He finished third in the league in blocks, averaging 1.5 per game.
“I am extremely excited to be able to sign my second professional contract with Usti Nad Labem,” Wolfram said in a release.
“I cannot wait to get to the Czech Republic in September and do everything I can to help the club be successful.”
In their most recent season, USTI finished with a 14-18 record, eighth in the NBL.
“Signing Josh means that we have an athletic big man, who can work hard under the basket but also has a good shooting touch from the outside,” said USTI general manager Tomas Hruby.
“He also plays at a high level in the defensive end of the court, which will benefit us greatly.”
