Ryley McRae excelled at the Canadian Junior Swimming Championships in Toronto on the weekend.

The 16-year-old Kamloops Classic Swimming club member earned four medals, including one gold, two silvers and one bronze.

He won gold in the 16-and-under 1,500-metre freestyle with a time of 15:35.87, blowing away the competition with a time that leaves him ranked among the top 10 in the world in that event among swimmers 18 and under.

He placed second in the 200m fly and 400m freestyle events and  third in the 100m fly.

Michael Dagasso placed 50th in the 100m free, 69th in the 200m fly and 52nd in the 50m free.

Keana Smart had two start infractions and was disqualified from both events.
